The mayor of Cambérène, who is also Director General of the Autonomous Port of Dakar (Pad), has distributed 3,000 school kits to the primary schools in his commune. A ceremony at which he set out his ambition to win the Dakar mayoralty.

In Cambérène, education was at the heart of the event. Doune Pathé Mbengue, mayor of the commune and Director General of the Autonomous Port of Dakar (Pad), handed over 3,000 school kits intended for primary schools. The donation aims to support schools and help families with back-to-school costs. Taking the floor, the mayor also expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic for the confidence placed in him through his appointment as head of the Pad.

Dakar City Hall in his sights

But it was a political announcement that marked the ceremony. Doune Pathé Mbengue declared his intention to run for mayor of Dakar. The mayor of Cambérène thus intends to take his ambitions to the scale of the capital, beyond his municipal responsibilities and his role at the head of the Autonomous Port of Dakar.

The distribution of the 3,000 school kits was therefore the setting for a twofold message: a gesture in support of education and the assertion of a political goal, that of winning Dakar City Hall.
