The Dakar derby between Union Sportive de Ouakam (Uso) and Jaraaf is among the most eye-catching fixtures of the second matchday of Ligue 1 football, along with the Rufisque department clash pitting Ajel against Génération Foot.

Génération Foot, top of the table after one matchday following their emphatic win over As Pikine, pay a short visit to their neighbours Ajel this Saturday at the Stade Ngalandou Diouf. Déni Biram Ndao’s academy side, who aim to be among the frontrunners this season, will try to string together a second consecutive win. The task looks complicated for the Grenats, however. Facing them, Ajel of Rufisque, last season’s runners-up and formidable at home, are seeking a first win in front of their own fans after the draw they earned against Jaraaf on the opening matchday.

The other headline fixture of the second matchday is the Dakar derby, commonly known as the “Lebou derby”, between Uso and Jaraaf.

Exempt last weekend because of Teungueth Fc’s African commitments, the Ouakam side host the “Jaraafmen” at the Stade municipal de Ngor.

The clash promises to be electric, like the meetings of previous years, especially as Jaraaf are still chasing their first three points of the season.

The Ligue 1 programme for the second matchday features other enticing match-ups, including Diambars Fc-Asc Hlm, Dakar Sacré Cœur-Us Gorée and As Pikine-Essamaye Fc.

There is also Casa Sports-Wally Daan, while the reigning champions, Teungueth Fc, are once again exempt because of their CAF Champions League match.
